Tarek Ben Halim, 1955-2009
Philanthropy circles and the Arab world mourn the loss of Tarek Ben Halim. In 2004, he set-up the Venture Philanthropy fund Alfanar (lighthouse in Arabic) a former full member of EVPA, which focused on assisting grassroots organisations in the Arab world improve the lives and opportunities of their communities.

EVPA is a membership association made up of individuals and organisations interested in or practising venture philanthropy. The association was established in October 2004 and has recently opened its Brussels headquarters.
